I have known Ben Lambert for more than six years and have come to appreciate his tenacious desire to not just “paint,” but to specialize in his craft and insure that his employees are educated to work in the same way. 

Ben has done a number of jobs for Crossway Church. The most impressive example was his facelift of the fellowship hall of the 150 year-old church building that we rented. First, Ben used his artist’s eye to help us select an updated shade for the room. Then, Ben painstakingly removed old paint and restored large wooden panel doors, making them look as good as new. Rather than gloss over holes and outdated paint on the plaster walls, I watched amazed as Mr. Lambert patched and prepped, and then painted over the dingy white without “cutting corners.” He painted crooked walls with as straight an edging as a person can. In the end, he had transformed the hall into a comfortable meeting place that left our landlord speechless. 

Aside from his craftsmanship, I feel totally comfortable leaving Mr. Lambert alone at the church to work. He leaves the job site clean and organized in between work hours. He works quickly, stays within budget, and uses the best quality paint and materials (also paying attention to safety details).

“Ben came with high recommendations from both former employers and another architect. He was careful in his proposal and provided good documentation of the products he used. Our house is an 1860’s cape, with mostly original clapboards, and Ben put a huge amount of effort into the prep work of scraping and cleaning. His brother Nate (www.LambertCarpentry.com) sped the project by quickly replacing the few clapboards which were too weak to leave in place, and deftly mimicked in new wood our existing gingerbread rake trim, which was also deteriorated. When the paint we ordered, using the mix number from our existing exterior color, did not match the existing paint on the house, Ben worked with his supplier to match what we wanted, and cheerfully redid the section of wall which was the wrong color. After almost six years, our exterior paint is holding up very well.
